WHAT IS YOGA?
In Sanskrit, Yoga means union, and that is exactly what yoga does. Physically it unites the body and breath. Mentally it unites the body and mind, and some people practice yoga because of the union they feel between body, mind and atman (spirit). No matter which union you feel in yoga, you are sure to feel a beneficial union and as your practice develops, your own interpretation of yoga will take place. Through the practice of yoga you become more aware of the quality of your mind, breath, body, atman, and its abilities. Through that awareness, people begin to make positive changes in their lives that create more peace and less stress. Yoga is the perfect X-training to bring into your life because it doesn't just focus on the physical part of your health, but on all aspects of your health and well being. If I am not flexible, can I still do yoga?
Yes! In fact, you're a perfect candidate for yoga. Being flexible and strong is NOT a prerequisite for yoga; it is a byproduct of practicing yoga. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is what is taught at XYZ Fitness and through its practice you will slowly become stronger and more flexible. There is a place for every level in this type of practice.

What should I wear to Yoga class?
Yoga is done barefoot so you don't need to worry about shoes. Wear clothing that is loose and comfortable. Some people like to layer, wearing layers allows you to be as cool or as warm as you'd like to be throughout practice. XYZ Fitness has a limited number of yoga mats available to borrow, first come first serve. We also sell high quality yoga mats for $24 before and after class. Cash payment please. Yoga classes last 50-80 minutes.
What should I wear to Zumba class?
Generally you should bring a towel and water. The type of shoe is key for easy flowing movement, so you should wear good supportive shoes such as cross-trainers, or dance-specific sneakers. Wear shoes that do not have a lot of tread at the bottom and are meant for medial/lateral/twisting motion. Wear clothing that you are comfortable moving in that won't constrain movement.
All Zumba classes last 50-60 minutes.
What should I wear to Belly Dance class?
Any clothing that you’re comfortable moving in that won’t constrain movement. It is good to wear clothes that you can see what your body is doing underneath them. Belly dance is practiced bare foot.
Does XYZ Fitness offer Work Yoga programs?
